It appears that for the remainder of the season the grooming will be sporadic at best. The access from the Kingswood end to transport our equipment is very muddy and difficult to get through. If we had temperatures that turned the mud into a frozen mass then we might consider doing a little more grooming. And before someone suggests moving the gear by trailer - we won't be doing that. That was done in the past and no one wants to return to those days. That being said it could be the end of the grooming. I want to give a big thanks all the people that help with the grooming.
Enjoy the spring skiing when temps and conditions allow. The base is fairly deep in the woodlot.

Skate surface touched up this morning. Probably for the last time.

Thanks Rex, it was fun!
ReplyDeleteGreat skiing today. Skate surface was fast; classic tracks are showing their age.
ReplyDeleteMuch gratitude for all the work you guys put in to provide such fabulous trails. Thanks for another wonderful season! :)
ReplyDeleteWent in at 11 am and trail was still frozen. No soft spots. A number of stretches were still smooth for great for skating conditions.
ReplyDeleteStarted skiing at 1300 hrs when it was -2 C and wind chill of -4 and trails were still pretty good. The sunny portions were just a little soft while the shaded portions were still solid. The classic track is still ski-able.
ReplyDeleteWould you day the surface is generally icy? It was at Killarny yesterday except in the sun of course.
DeleteGenerally? no, not as icy as they have been. There probably are a few areas that remain icy but it all depends on the temp at skiing time and whether the sun reached the icy areas.
DeleteApprox. 2 inches of new snow as a result of Saturday's snowfall. Skate skiing was pretty good considering. I was told that trails from top of Kent road to Kingswood and Trail # 2 & 3 and Beaverpond were the least skied. The outer loop was fine; classic track still holding up very well as is the skating deck. Lots of skiers had been out.
ReplyDeleteMoose on the trail about 2KM up the Kent road this evening.
ReplyDeleteMoose are allowed if they're skiing. Otherwise ask them to stay off the trails
