Trails have been rolled

Trails have been rolled but not trackset. Skate surface is probably on the soft side, but skiable.

  1. The day was perfect for being outdoors and a lot were out at Kingswood / UNB Woodlot to enjoy it. Unfortunately the snow was soft for skiing but that is just nature's way of making us work a little harder.

  4. There are two reasons. First, the machine that sets tracks cannot be used immediately after a significant snowfall. It sinks into the soft snow and the snowmobile cannot pull it. The trails must be rolled first and allowed to set up. Second, it takes 5-6 hours to roll the trails after a storm or significant snowfall and around 3 hours to set track. It is not reasonable to ask the groomers to put in a nine hour day.

    1. Thanks Norman. I knew you would have a good answer. Still very much appreciate the reliable and hard workers who groom.

  5. I asw lots of classic skiers enjoying the trails anyway; they made their own track. Skating surface was indeed soft but still a joy to ski on given the sunshine. Thank you groomers - very happy with my skate out there yesterday :)

  6. Can someone comment on the conditions today for skating. Firm surface? Rutted up?
